I am loving the color block trend and liked the idea of revamping a vintage pattern so decided to kill two birds with one stone to make this color block slip on jumper dress!! I used the basic shape and style of the original pattern and just cut it in two sections for the front and back for the blue and black panels. I made the sleeves a little bit tighter to go more with the style of the dress and added a strip of purple to tie in (no pun intended!) the color to the belt. I made the pockets out of the purple as well. I usually wear more fitted dresses so I added some pleats to the waistline to give it a more flattering and shapely fit. This also allows you to wear the dress without a belt. I shortened the length to make it a cute mini dress that can be worn over leggings on colder days or with bare legs and flip flops when it finally gets around to summer!
I normally make my own patterns from scratch so it was actually really fun coming up with ideas to alter a vintage style. I will definitely be trying more pattern make overs in the future :-)
