I am currently in the midst of costuming a theatrical production set in the 1950’s. One of the leading ladies was to be costumed in a vintage dressing gown fit for a diva. On a limited budget I spent 15 dollars on fabric and $7.50 on a marabou boa. I layed out my own simple pattern to cut from four yards of material. With exactly enough fabric I was able to fashion a dramatic floor length vintage style dressing gown. The fabric was nice and wide allowing for a full A-line flare.
One of the most beloved American designers passed last night. We look back at a few of his designs.
