Description

I crocheted this purse from the first part of the instructions of “Topaz Purse” by Sylvia Landman. I left off the last few rounds and the ruffle section. I then sewed the lining out of a shiny interior decorating fabric in beige. I used some reclaimed wooden (maybe bamboo?) handles and irridescent ribbon I got in a grab bag (I took out the wire first). I had to hand-sew the lining/outer/ribbon because it wasn’t going to fit on the machine. Tedious, but I loved the final results!

Material Notes

crochet cotton, beige interior decorating fabric, ribbon, wood bangle handles

Very cute! A long time a go, I crocheted a bag, and it was laborious, but it was worth it.

Thank you. :) I just stopped when I was happy with the way it looked, and accidental editing I supposed.

Thank you all. I loved this pattern, but am currently reworking some vintage rose/leaf motifs so that I can have a completely original piece.

This is so inspiring! I’ve just started crocheting and hope to be able to make something like this someday. Wood really looks so lovely with crochet cotton.

Is this Size 10 thread, by the way? And how big is the purse? =)

Thank you! It is size 10 thread, the purse ended up being about 6" in diameter, so it is definitely an evening bag or “I don’t have kids yet” bag. :)
