This cute blouse has been handmade from a vintage Simplicty pattern dated to 1953.
The fabric is a soft cotton lawn with a tiny blue floral print. The construction of the blouse is as it would have been when made in the 1950’s. The seams are pinked, the hem double turned & hand stitched in place, the armholes edged with self-bias & hand stitched. The buttons for this blouse are also vintage.
The blouse features double dart-tucks in the front and back, creating a fitted area over the hip and upto the waist, releasing the fabric to give that classic 50’s “poufe” over the skirt waistband. Gathers from the forward shoulder seam add fullness over the bust area & the high neckline is finished with a small Peter Pan collar.
The blouse measures 23" or 58.5cm from the nape (back of neck) to the hem.
