I’ve always wanted a silk romper because I love silk and rompers :-) I used a Simplicity pattern from the 70’s and kept it intentionally a bit oversized so it would be loose and flowy. I changed the sleeves though, the original plain ones just made the entire thing look a bit ‘square’.

It looks great…. my cousin asked me how difficult it would be to make one of these – not too hard as we were going to make it strapless and I’m mock it up without a pattern. Now I soooo must have this pattern! How did you make the flowy sleeves?

It’s veeery easy to make. I bought the pattern on a site called www.momspattern.com, they have lots to choose from. The sleeves I made according to the same principle as a circle skirt; so you cut out two sort of half-moons and once you attach that rounded edge to the straight armhole edge you get that billowy ruffle-type effect. Sorry am very bad at explaining this :-(

so cute!! i always forget about looking up vintage patterns to sew some of my inspirations. i do agree that the original sleeves would have looked square. i like your variation. very flowy and appropriate for the silk fabric and its flower design. beautiful job!!!
