Description

These are 1960s-inspired smart pants for the stylish beatnik from BurdaStyle Sewing Vintage Modern. A trail of pintucks lead to a pair of stirrups, a look that evokes a young Audrey Hepburn or Mary Tyler Moore. Do without the pintucks and stirrups for a clean design, or crop them for a cute capri. We chose to sew ours in a silk-and-wool knit blend, but other stretchy fabrics, such as Lycra, may suit you just as well.

Stirrups never worked well with me but I think I will make one without the stirrups!

I agree with the other comments, you can’t really see the full length of the pants. I’ve always loved stirrup pants, so whether i can see or not i will definitely purchase this pattern.

I remember wearing (and HATING) stirrup pants when I was a little girl back in the ’60s…

These, however, look (as far as we can tell from the seated model) far more elegant. The boots shown are definitely a large part of that elegance as they continue the long, clean vertical line of the pant.

You’ve sparked my interest: perhaps I should get over my cringe and try again?

I love the idea of these pants but it’s kind of hard to see what they look like with the model sitting down!
