This elegant dress has been handmade from a vintage McCalls pattern dated to 1942. The construction of the dress is as it would have been when made in the 1940’s. The seams are pinked, the hem eased & hand stitched into place, and the sleeve edges faced with self-bias & hand stitched. There is a zip in the left side seam.
The dress features a shaped basque onto which a gathered cross-over bodice has been stitched. There are two darts in the back to give shape. The skirt flares gently to below the knee. The short sleeves have darted heads to emphasise the shoulder area.
The dress measures 43" or 109cm from the nape (back of neck) to the hem, and is made to fit:
Bust 34" 86-87cm
Waist 28" 71cm
Hip 37" 94cm
The dress is SOLD
The fabric is a crisp grey cotton with white spots.
