A shame that this is only a toile… and not a wearable one at that! I used Vintage Butterick 8043 which is a fabulous pattern… all about the neckline. The fabric was a very cheap shiny synthetic blend, which I bought for the purpose of a toile but was secretly hoping it would work out for a wearable one. But it proved to be too unstable. It tears like paper and little holes started to appear down one side. Never mind! Will definitely be making this up in some better quality fabric next time. All the details and photos over at ooobop!
Special thanks to The House of Pinheiro for encouraging the post and to Mr Ooobop! for taking the photos!

Thank you Patti. Its a double-edged sword making a toile from something other than calico! More disappointing I think when things like this happen!

Very nice!! Love the colour, and I agree with the other commenters, you suit red! Great neckline too, can’t wait to see your “proper” dress!

What a lovely dress, on the pictures it doesn’t look like it’s not wearable. But if the fabric is not strong enough,…you might end up with a totaly ripped dress somewhere on a party! You definitly have to make a new one!

Than you Loulourosa… I agree. It could end up messy! :-)

this looks fabulous ! Red is most definitely your colour, very sexy :-)) Too bad about the material, I actually quite like the shiny with this and the neckline is just perfect ! Very much looking forward to you next version.

Janene, this is gorgeous. I absolutely love the pattern and the colour of the fabric. I hope your next one will be in the same colour as it really suits you. The neck-line is so lovely!! Look forward to seeing the next dress.

Thank you Rosemary. The fabric unfortunately tears like paper. Little holes started to appear. I tried to fix one of them but it didn’t hold up. I didn’t cry too much!

Love the color, the silhouette … everything about it! It’s really sad that you won’t be able to wear it, because it is so beautiful + looks that a great effort has been invested!
