This jacket belongs with the wiggle dress I made earlier – Simplicity 3425 (see http://www.burdastyle.com/projects/wiggle-dress-ca-1960-simplicity-3425).
I used a checked cotton from 1988 with a lovely sheen and crispness about it and hand finished the jacket with a mid weight dark purple lining. The sleeves end just above the elbow, the pattern does not call for any buttons and I didn’t add the pockets because the patterned fabric provides plenty of detail.
Would be a good first jacket for a novice with a few simple garments under their belt.
I will be making more of these in silk, brocade, linen…
approx. 1m50 cotton (because of nap), 1m satin lining, thread.
