Description

It certainly is jacket time in the UK. Always a bit reluctant to cave in, but not now that I have a lovely Vogue jacket to wear! It’s a reproduction of a 1950 design pattern V2934. I used an inexpensive wool blend for the outer and a very expensive silk lining!

It was very easy to put together but there’s a lot of hand-sewing. I’m liking this more and more so it wasn’t an issue but just very time consuming.

More details and loads of photos on the blog!

I want this in my wardrobe! Such a refreshing change from the usual coats I’m seeing on the high street. (Novice sewer, not confident to tackle a jacket yet!)

Thank you Karen. I do think you would be pleasantly surprised how simple this is. You don’t even have to sew buttonholes if you don’t want to! There are two fronts, two backs seamed down the middle, 4 cuff pieces that make up the 2 cuffs, and the rest of the pieces go to make up the lining and facings. Lots of small handstitching required but if you take your time it’s actually quite enjoyable! :-)

Great jacket and great storyline photo shoot. I would buy this (or copy it, sew it myself, and wear it exactly like you did) in a heartbeat. Awesome!

and by the way it took me all of 5 mins this morning to find the pattern, compare online prices and buy it!!! I love it too much to not have that pattern.
Hope mine turns out as lovely as yours :)
