Description
I needed a dress for a gala evening in Vienna in which I will take part next week, and I always liked this Burda pattern. Friends told me that I would need a long dress, though, so I took only the bodice of the pattern and added a long skirt: mainly two gathered rectangles, tapered to the bottom, and with a vent in the back.
I also underlined the whole dress with silk organza and added some boning in the bodice (always wanted to try boning!).

I rather like your verison better. And it gives me some ideas for variations of the pattern… (I have the magazine issue). Imagine it with a draped skirt like Gertie’s Bombshell Dress.

You should! It is not as difficult as it looks at the beginning and a very thankful pattern!

I was hoping someone would post completed photos of this dress pattern.
Some had posted about this pattern’s difficulty and ill-design, but – voila! – you’ve shown us it can be done!
Lovely dress.

Thank you! I must say I didn’t have any real problems with the pattern. Of course I made a muslin to fit, but mainly the only alterations I had to do was to shorten the bodice for my short figure and to adjust the shoulder seams. And I put the zipper to the center back instead of the side seam. But the parts came together without any problems (so at least in size 36 it’s not a problem).
