I made this top in February 2013. I used Vogue 2947, View C. I think the pattern is out of print now, so I’m glad I snagged it while I could because it’s a very detailed design!
This is another project inspired by Victorian/Steampunk/Romantic styles, which I have been experimenting with this past year. It’s feminine vintage, but I think it has a sleek look too.
I used two pieces of lace fabric from my expansive stash. One of them is a Crochet-type (Body), and the other is Alenon (Yoke & Neck-tie). The blouse took me about 2 days to make. I made a few alterations — the body was supposed to attach to the yoke with a decorative raw-edge, but I decided to go with a regular seam instead. Other than that, I followed the pattern. The crochet-lace body was a little difficult to sew, because it had a light stretch to it and wanted to shift when sewing; but it turned out looking so delicate and lovely, it was well worth the trouble.
