Description

I made this dress last summer during the big heat wave. I got lots of wear out of it but unfortunately only when it was cold enough to wear a jacket as I didn’t like how the top sat on my shoulders. I did a beautiful job on the zipper, but of course, in order to fix the problem of gaping at the back, I think I might have to remove it! Sigh.

Very pretty, and the print is lovely too. I’ve had this pattern for a while and you’ve just inspired me to use it. Now I just have to find some time and the right fabric :).

I hope you have better luck than me with the neckline, I didn’t take any pictures of the back, but it gapes quite badly…so remember to try it on lots when you’re sewing :) (I sure learned that lesson with this project, It was so disappointing when I sewed the last stitch and went to put it on!)

Absolutely beautiful dress! The assymetry of the use of print makes this dress more fun! I have this pattern and after seeing your dress, I’m inspired to try it. I’m 5’3". The length of this dress looks perfect on you. Did you have to make any changes to the pattern pieces?

When I made it last summer I didn’t know much about altering patterns to fit so made the pattern as is, I can’t remember if I altered the length, but I doubt it…if I did I simply cut off fabric at the hem instead of adjusting the length of the waist…I’m 5’3" as well and the length of the waist was perfect for me. Unfortunately the back gapes terribly…and I have wide shoulders so I really don’t know what I did wrong! So be careful when sewing it to make sure the neckline is not too wide for you. Since I haven’t fixed this problem on mine yet, I can’t really offer suggestions on how to prevent it…sorry! I hope you have better luck than me!

<3 the print. I’ve been looking for a fabric with similar print/colours… Great job!

I know, it’s awesome isn’t it? I bought the fabric on clearance in the middle of the winter while dreaming about summer…I couldn’t pass it up :)
