Waistband pattern: self drafted.
Skirt pattern: bottom part of the Sultry Sheath Dress from Gertie’s New Book For Better Sewing.
Fabric: scooter kokka fabric by Etsuko Furuya.
50s style, high waist pencil skirt lengthened below knees. The skirt has four darts in the front and another four in back and it closes at the back with an invisible zipper. Of course, it is completely lined and the shaped curved waistband includes a facing.
This is a pretty straight forward project easy and fast resulting in a very flattered garment for curvy women.
I only see a tiny inconvenience and that is that the points of the waistband tend to fold when sitting, so next time I might add some boning to the waistband.
L100cm x W150 cm fabric, L90 cm lining x W110, L90cm x 15 cm stiff fusible interfacing and 22 cm invisible zipper
