I made this bag for a dear old friend’s upcoming birthday. I used VeryPurplePerson’s awesome pattern and some really pretty lightweight cotton given to me courtesy of my grandma.
Two and a half hour project time and minimum fuss. Most difficult part of sewing this for me was top stitching. I couldn’t color in the lines as a kid and I can’t make a nice even top stitch as a grown up:)

Beautiful!! a question.. in the tuttorial.. the step 4… you sew the centen (curve) before turn?

Hi Manet! Yes. You sew around the opening of the bag before you pull it through the strap. The only thing you should need to sew after you pull the fabric through the strap is the upper part of the straps themselves. Make sure you clip the curves after you sew the opening of the bag too! It’ll make a big difference:)

It looks really nice! My edge stitching foot is my best friend when top stitching…that, combined with a longer stitch (which is much more forgiving) might change everything for you.

Thanks for the tip! I’m going to look into an edge stitching foot. Never thought of that before:)

I love making these purses! So many possibilities and they all turn out wonderful! Yours is too!!! Happy Sewing. (and I know what you mean about the top stitching, I have the same problem)
