This Heidi is the first garment I’ve ever made – and the pattern was fantastic, it was so quick and easy!! Well… I must admit I didn’t do any lining or interfacing (just used bias binding at the neck and armholes), OR make the belt, in order to make it an even easier beginner project.
I need to unpick the back waist and turn those pleats into darts as it’s kinda blousy/baggy back there, and I’ll definitely raise the underarm seam bit on my next version, but I am still so totally chuffed to have made my first dress :-D

Look’s fantastic, well done. I am attempting the Heidi as my first dressmaking project for a long time ( last made a waistcoat when I was a about 16…like I said I long time ago!) it is encouraging to see how well yours turned out, as I am too scared to cut out the material at the minute!

Do it! I was actually astonished at how quick it was to make (due to being a beginner who was afraid of my own sewing machine, I guess!)
I reckon the only things that kept me from doing the sewing in (the equivalent of) one full day was that it took me a while to figure out bias binding, and wanting to use an invisible zip when I don’t have the relevant machine foot thingy meant I had to put the zip in by hand, which was a bit of a pain.

Great styling, simple and form-flattering.
The neckline is perfect, as is the placement of the hem.
A+ for your first effort!!!!
