Description

This project began because I have a guest room where I want to accommodate couples who can’t sleep together because of snoring, and other couples who prefer to be in the same bed. I decided to come up with a design for the room that would make everyone happy. Of course, if I didn’t have a headboard treatment, that would make things easier, but I didn’t like that idea. So I came up with my own headboard treatment. I have to be honest, I think I might have seen something like this in a movie once. But I drew up the design for these headboard bolsters, and created it myself. I used sturdy yet comfortable three inch thick foam for the bolsters. They slide across a rod so that when the twin beds are pushed together, the bolsters create one large headboard. When the beds are separated each has it’s own headboard.

Good idea – I have just removed the old headboard from my bed, so that I can push the bed further to the wall and add a few more inches of space - I might use the idea of ’ box’ type cushions at the back that rest on the mattress. I am short so can give up a few inches on the bed length !
