Inspired by Venetian façade’s, my gown is afusion of couture needlework and contemporary laser cutting. The fabric design originated from a watercolour I painted of the sea, which was then digitally manipulated and printed onto silk satin and silk chiffon. This surface pattern design reflects the marbling of the façade’s of the renaissance buildings yet has a sea horse hidden within it’s midst, blending building with the sea. The dress pattern is self designed and cut to skim the precise curves of the individual’s body, using boning for added structure. Finally, the detailing brings impact to the subtle tones yet the laser cut leather provides an urban edge to a classically elegant gown.
