I made this red modified Danielle dress for my Strawberry Shortcake Halloween costume. Today I wanted to wear red for my Valentine’s date night, but I don’t have any red, non-summery dresses in my closet. So to the costume box I went to rescue this one. I added a textured, ruffled bib with alternating fuscia and red buttons a la “Valentine Date Dress” by sweetiepiebakery. Her sleeveless velvet version is so cute! The bib is from a recycled lady’s dress shirt and the ruffles are single-sided satin ribbon. I actually like this dress a lot more with the added details, and I think I’d like it even more if I ever motivate myself enough to make the sleeves a bit less puffy at the top. I wore it with a cardigan this evening, which helped smoosh the shoulder fluff before the photos. You can see the before in my Strawberry Shortcake project.
Poplin for the dress, recycled dress shirt, satin ribbon, and stray buttons for the bib, invisible zipper

This is such a fun dress! You looked great in it. I like the puffy sleeves by the way!

Thank you! They’re a little puffier than they look in the photo, and I will definitely reduce a little fluff the next time I try to draft a long puff sleeve, but since this dress started life as a Strawberry Shortcake costume, they were totally appropriate for the origina
