Description

My most favourite Frankendress to date! I love how this has turned out. Apologies for not modelling and for the fact that Alma the dummy doesn’t have much of a waist, or bosom, to show this off!
Fully lined and boned, it’s the skirt of sweetheart Dress http://www.burdastyle.com/pattern_store/patterns/sweetheart-dress-042013 and the bodice of the one shown just down the page and to the right!
I added a little lace to the hem of the black skirt lining, because clearly it needed extra sass! My first time of using a rolled hem on my overlocker/serger to attach lace and it worked like a dream.
The bodice took a little fitting the first time I used this pattern but I copied my adjustments back to my pattern and it was a breeze this time.
Ooooh! Top Tip. If you use plastic boning, then melt it with a flame at the end and it will soften all those sharp bits. Mine are stitched to the seams of the linings and I placed a little piece of fleece under each end, for extra comfort.

Material Notes

Pure Cotton Leopard print and bright Red Cotton. Rigylene plastic boning. Invisible zip. Rigid lace.

Thank you :) I’ve made the full dress that belongs to the bodice and that’s nice too – it’s somewhere in my studio.

Thanks :) It looks a little shapeless on my dummy but it’s not once it’s on! Both patterns are great to work with. There’s a top made from the sweetheart dres and a halter with the full skirt on my wall somewhere. Definitely recommended!
