Having some delay issues updating my account :)
One of myclosest friends really wanted to dress upas Ursula from Disney’s “Little Mermaid”, and ever since I dyed my hair red (a bit more than a year now, but now it’s really ginfer) people told me I look like Ariel. I never liked her too much, but it worked with my friend’s wish, so I decided to go for it.
I thought Ariel would be the easy one, but it turned out to be way harder, and I hardly finished it on time, and almost didn’t leave the house. Ursula is one of my favorite costumes so far, and seeing my work on someone else was amazing!
I think I knew it was so good when it took people several minutes to notice the half-naked girl standing next to the giant purple thing. I do like the fact I actually made Ariel’s bag, and carried a fork around…
Ursula:
Black velvet and purple Satin in 2 shades.
3 hoop crinoline I tied up.
Kryolan makeup mousse.
wig, hairspayed and hung upside-down to dry (I was very proud of myself for thinking of that!), fake nails, fimo for the necklace.
Ariel:
Tail made of green Lycra and on to of it some other stretchy shiny fabric. Tried to use organza because it looked pretty and exactly as I wanted, but it kept tearing. Bottom of tail: light-green chiffon and satin ribbon, boning.
Top: skin-toned thin Lycra (didn’t want to go all naked, ya know..), sea-shells made of plaster, coloured and glued ao a bra. On the way to the street party some woman walked into me and made one sea-shell fall off, and I had to keep holding it all day :( .
My very very red hair (I dyed it this red only for the costume, and it was really lousy dye and faded in a week..)

They look great! I so love it when people go all the way with a costume and not just a casual nod so to speak.
