I made this steampunked, urban pirate inspired vest out of an old pair of pants that my best friend gave me (he’s wearing the vest in the first picture), and tried to use as many parts of the old garment as possible. So I even re-attached the pockets inside and outside. I also used vintage metal and mother of pearl buttons instead of buying new ones.
The only thing that was not somehow recycled were the hooks and eyes (didn’t have big enough vintage ones) and the lining (it was store-bought, but decades ago and left from another project).
My own personal action against the throwing-away-mentality that’s still present everywhere (although people are slowly becoming aware of what they do).
Pattern is self drafted.

Fantastic work! I really like the refashion/recycle of an older garment….very nice detail on the hooks and eyes.

whoa
it doesn’t look like it was made out of almost all recycled materials! I myself don’t like throuwing stuff away, and try to find another usage of them.
great creation! i love it :)
