upcycle skirt woo!

Added Jun 22, 2009

by Zyanya Walker

Sydney, Australia

Vintage red skirt with pleats all around the skirt. Has yoked waistband to hip, the pleats start at the hip-line. Features six gold buttons down the front. The skirt used to be ankle length but has been cut to a mini length. The skirt has 2 small damaged spots-contact me if you would like detailed images. This garment should be hand washed and most-likely needs the pleats ironed in after every wash.

thanks GinaSophia. i was wondering if i should iron the pleats down properly but i think i will just leave it!. its funny you say that about pants because there was some pants at the shop very similar, same style. im tempted to go back and get them!!

I absolutely love how the hem flares out. It is so whimsical!

That old skirt could have made an awesome pair of harem pants too!

PS: I see you are in Sydney, any fabric shops to recommend? I am visiting in July. I am so happy because I just realised (totally by fluke) that my hotel is 200 meters from Tessutis in Bondi Junction! So I will be going there absolutely but any others I should check out?

I think it’s very clever of you to see the potential to make that skirt better, you have definitely improved it and it suits you. I am inspired to hit the thrift stores now. Oh, and it is cute, thanks for sharing :)
