Burda Style For people who sew
Description
I made this skirt after seeing the tute for a similar skirt – for a little girl! I fell in love though, and just had to have one! I wanted to go with the whole rainbow-theme that lots of other people on the web had done, but then I decided I would wear it more often if I did it in a more neutral color. I (and by “I”, I mean “my mom”) had the greatest number of green scraps, so I went with green! Each 6inch by 6 inch square is hand-traced and cut out of oddly-shaped scraps. I tried to have a grand variety of patterns, so I ended up piecing some scraps together just to have a big enough square! The gathering part was real annoying, but none of my threads broke, so it wasn’t too bad. It is also the first skirt I ever made! (My “jupette” was made shortly after, following the same basic concept, but using bands instead of squares.) The waist band is elastic and it only took me about two days to get it all put together.
