My first of two attempts at sewing stuffed elephants from Diana Rupp’s Sew Everything Workshop. This set went to my Little Sister, Jessica; the second set, not photographed, was a pretty purple fabric with swirly hearts, and went to the gorgeous brand-new baby girl born to my married coworker friends. I added “bristles” to the tails by looping purple thread a bunch of times, stuffing it into the right-side-out tail, folding the edges inside, topstitching across the loops, then trimming the ends. This project is labeled easy, but I didn’t think it was; I had a terrible time getting stuffing into the trunks, and both sets came out lopsided. Still, I may try them again after I’ve built up my mad sewing skillz a bit.
