I used a historical pattern f a XVIII’s century “robe à l’anglaise” to sew this outfit for the “Journée Grand Siècle” (great century day) of the Vaux-le-Vicomte castle, a fantastic day where everybody can come to the castle in a XVII or XVIII outfit and have a classy pic-nic on the garden.
I sew the entire outfit, I even made the hat and created my own pattern for the little bonnet (I don’t know the english word, the white stuff I used to cover my short hair with style). By the way, I put this pattern on my blog, it’s in french but quite easy to understand : http://sakikojones.fr/blog/1559-tuto-de-la-coiffe-ancienne. This was a really nice and fun project, even if mine wasn’t the most beautiful outfit of the day (I was jumping on everybody to see the amazing fabrics they used, I couldn’t put a lot of money myself n it and was amazed by the perfection of some of the other’s clothes !).

The next time I’ll go there (this happens every year) I’ll try to sew something as beautiful as some of those dresses, even if i’m quite proud of mine.

It must’ve been a wonderful day to travel back in time, especially in this wonderful dress. I would love to try a beautiful costume like that too one day…
