Burda Style For people who sew

This bag is a thank-you gift for a friend, and is the first bag I’ve ever made! It is the Burdastyle ‘Our Bag’ from the book and I made Chia’s version.

I’m really pleased with how it has turned out. As I’m a relative beginner I thought at first it might have been a bit difficult for me but I think I’ve definitely learned not to be afraid of attempting anything outside my comfort zone. I just took plenty of time with it and it all came together.

I interfaced the bottom of the outside of the bag for a bit of extra sturdiness, and I didn’t make the detachable strap. I also used D-ring type thingys (sorry don’t know the correct term) for the shoulder strap instead of attaching the strap directly to the bag, as I think it gives it a better look.

Material Notes

The main fabric is a polyester gabardine twill and the lining is a vintage print cotton.
