I’m in love with this ugly, ugly bag!
My boyfriend and I have started dragging our 4 year old daughter to our martial art competitions, which means long days, and lots of downtime. So, I made this backpack so that she could stuff it with goodies to amuse herself with during the day. She was very happy when I presented it to her, and I even overheard her bragging about it to a new friend that day melt
The pattern is based off of Melly & Me’s Birdie Backpack (what a great design!), although I did change some things up. The best part is that it’s made with thrifted materials, so it was very inexpensive. I had a lot of fun stamping white polka dots on the green fabric, and making my own bias tape for the top. I did also add in some batting to the straps for extra comfort.
I’m very very happy with how this turned out, and love how loud and playful and ugly it is!

Hit the city streets in adventurous looks with utilitarian details like cargo pockets and belts.
