Earlier this year I became obsessed with finding a bird print fabric, so when I received a gift certificate for the Fabric Godmother I immediately looked at their animal print fabrics to see if there was anything suitable. This particular fabric caught my eye – how could it not? It is the very definition of “eye-catching”. However, I could not decide if it would just be too busy for me, but eventually – after much deliberation I went ahead and purchased some.
I’d always wanted the bird print for a long sleeved Elisalex, so that is what I made. I took a bit off the sides of the skirt and I used a 22" invisible zipper instead of the full length exposed zipper in the instructions, but aside from that I just followed the pattern and made it in a straight up size 16/12. I love this pattern. I find it goes together really easily, and the results are always classy (well, as classy as you can be when you’re covered in parrots!)
