I finally made a Jenny skirt that I can wear. The first attempt was an upcycled curtain that I have decided is unwearable, and I never properly fitted it.
Inspired by sunnilj9’s sewalong for the Jenny on her blog – http://www.thecupcakegoddess.com/ I made a very sensible black Jenny in a linen/cotton blend. It fits beautifully and I can see myself wearing it everywhere. I lengthened it by 4cm and took in the top of the waistband. I also added a lovely lapped vent instead of the simple slit.
The top with the twist collar is from Simplicity’s Cynthia Rowley collection in navy gingham – same pattern used in Birthday Dress. I love this shirt, it is so easy to make, easy to wear, lovely flow.

This whole outfit is just beautiful! The twisted trim looks really good, and you wear it with panache. A really nice ensemble!

I have been eyeing that cynthia rowley pattern off for a while so it’s nice to see it made up. Goes brilliantly with the jenny skirt :-)

Really nice skirt, and top. Great fit! And I really wonder how to make the twisted trim around the neckline, is it hard? Do you just make a piece of fabric and fold it irregularily, so that it overlaps a bit at the ends? Hard to write down what I mean… anyway, it looks really good!

Thanks! The neckline is a tube that is twisted a few times before sewing the ends together. Then the twisted tube is handstitched (!!) to the finished shirt. Quite easy but time consuming.
