My co-worker’s birthday is on June 3rd and she always loves the clothes I make, so I decided I will surprise her. She loves purple, but I couldn’t find the matte jersey I wanted in purple, but I found this blackberry / eggplant color – close I guess – at Joann Fabric. I hope it will fit her and she will like it. I used McCall’s pattern M6326 view C. It took me about 2 hours to make it. The only problem was the hem. My machine couldn’t make a clean even stitching, so I had to take out the seam (FUN) and I used Stitch Witchery & I like the result. I don’t have any experience with this product. I’m not sure if it will survive through washes or not. Does anyone have experience with it? Should I top stitch over it or leave it like that?

Nice top; lucky co-worker. You should blind hem by hand; if you try the machine now, it may gum up your needle.

It’s a great top and I have a similar pattern I’m going to try, but I don’t think it is top stitched, then it’s not so easy to drape as you want.. I’m sure she will be very happy for this top eather you top stitched it or not! :-)

Thank you Ellen. Now I want one for myself too :)) She loved it and I chose to go with blind hem by hand.

It’s a great top and your friend will sure love it. I would like to make something like this this summer, did you use some pattern or did you draft this on yourself?

Thanks Liliv! I’m sure you will be done with it tomorrow since you have been on “speed sewing” lately :)) I used McCall’s pattern M6326 view C. I like this pattern because there are 4 cute tops to choose from.

This is a lovely top and i’m sure your friend will be thrilled with it. Is stitch witchery like wonder web?? Where you iron bonding onto the hem? If it is then.i would topstitch as well x

Thank you Mary. I missed communicating/ interacting with my sewing buddies here :) My computer crashed twice!!! I don’t know wonder web but yes, it is the iron fused bonding. Too bad, I wish I could just leave it like that because I really liked the clean look of it, but hand sewing it worked as well.

What a nice birthday present, I’m sure your friend will like it. I never use the Stitch Witchery but I think it would not work well for stretch materials. I think you need to top stitch or blind hem by hand to be safe.
