A flat pattern cut bodice from a fitted bodice block, I manipulated the darts into curved seams and added a twisted yoke at the top, with a freeform draped skirt.

Your work is fascinating, I’m curious about draping and have the Helen Armstrong Patternmaking book which has a sub section on draping – it all appears to be difficult – but from your description it sounds so possible, absolutely stunning work

I have one book and cant’t understand it, believe me I have many failiure in between the successes, sometimes it’s the ones you think are looking a mess that are the ones that with a bit of work shine, I need some new creations as I’ve been lucky with these but I’d love to be making some new designs.
I work Mon-Fri (non fashion) & need more time to do it all properly…it’s a bit of a catch 22!

Hi, yeah I have the 2nd edition I think, lovely books but I haven’t had the time to try anything from it yet, my bodice was just a close fitting bodice block that I cut about..moved darts etc & then added an extra border piece in the middle for more drama.
