This dress is based on the Cate pattern. I wanted a casual summer dress so I used silk jersey. I changed the straps and simplified the skirt, it’s just a tube of fabric gathered at the top. It’s very confortable to wear and twirling around in it is so much fun!

Thank you all for your comments!
hannnc: I didn’t find the pattern hard at all. I think it depends on the fabric. If I had made the dress in chiffon, like the original one, it would’ve been much more work. But because I used jersey, I didn’t need zipper, interfacing or boning. And I didn’t have to line the skirt either. It was pretty quick to make.

super cute! this looks exactly like a dress i wanted to get at forever21 but it just sucked, when i tried it on (it was strapless). your creation here inspires me to make it myself!

you’ve made this dress suit casual very well!! i like it :)
did you find this pattern was ‘hard’ as it suggests? the word hard is scaring me off, however, i usually can tackle tricky situations after playing with it for a while..
