Like almost everybody who owns a “Twinkle Sews” book, I immediately planned to make the “Next Big Thing” dress when I got this book for my birthday.
I had doubts in advance, though, wondering if it would be really wearable, and if I should leave the elastic in the front. I ended up with making no alterations, except for the skirt which I made less balloony, and in the end I am quite glad with how it came out. Already thinking about which Twinkle project to make next!

Congratulations for your new book… ! :-)
I used the size chart in the book, but other than suggested I used my pure body measurements, without adding any ease at all. I’m still not sure if I catched the sizing system the book authors suggested, but size 8 according to my body measurements worked very well for me!

tnx.. i wasn’t sure to add any ease or not.. it looked too much to add soo much cm at my body measurments ..

This is what I was thinking, too! But you can do a “last check”: When you taped the pattern together, you can measure the bust, waist and hips of the pattern: when those measurements come up with your body measurements plus an acceptable amount of ease, that should be the right size for you. Btw, I use this method also for choosing the right size of burda patterns!

yes, but burda patterns are much easier to print and tape :) .. i spent whole afternoon tapeing one of the pattern from this book. i hope it will be worth it :/ .. i decided not to start with this drees, but with taking manhattan. it looks easy to start with. and i’ll figure out what size fits me the best for this dress :) .. tnx again for help!

I hadn’t heard about that book yet, but it looks very nice! I also like the idea of a cd-rom! Anyway!
I LOVE the fabric! It is just enough 3D to transform a simple pattern in a gorgeous dress. I also think that the neckline is very pretty. As well, I like the fact you changed the bottom to make is less balloony.
In general, I feel like all the garments you make look so neat and well made!

Thank you! I love the fabric, too! When I saw it by chance in my preferred sewing shop I thought that it would be the perfect fabric for that dress. It has a very slight glimmer when the light falls in a certain direction, and – best of all – it was surprisingly easy to handle with!

Hope you will show it to us, then! I’m curious how it will look in a bright colour! I also thought about that, but didn’t have the courage :-(
