I made this dress when I first discovered the amazing world of Twinkle sweaters, and “Big City Knits” was my first book.
This is the dress on the cover of the book, and it is actually the second project I made.
The Tux Jacket is the first project I tried, and after I finished it, I decided I didn’t like how it looked.
So I undid the sweater (while my heart broke) and knit the sweater dress instead. Then, I dyed the whole thing black, which didn’t work and ended up this nice shade of periwinkle-purple.
The hat I made with left over yarn from the nantucket sweater, after I found this great pattern for a chunky hat by kath_red on whipup.net
It’s a really great quick-knit project if you have any leftover chunky yarn from your Twinkle Projects.
I threaded through a gold silk ribbon on mine for an accent.
Twinkle Soft and Chunky in rain, or any other bulky yard.
The sweater was originally a white alpaca bulky yarn which I later dyed using RIT Black.

Not a surprise to see all you have accomplished since I last checked up on you. The dress up work apron is adorable & I had to comment on this….as good as knit can get!

I love all your knit creations! When seeing them, I wish I could knit. Were they difficult to make?

Julietta- I only started knitting in earnest about 2 years ago! Before then I was a sewer. There are many great books out there- I think “stich’n’Bitch” is easily the best for beginners!

oh i love this! Good job, and the color looks great too. What brand of yarn did you use for the sweater? I would make all of the patterns in Big City Knits if the yarn wasn’t so expensive per skein!!!

I used a chunky alpaca yarn, can’t recall the name, but I think it was $11-2/skein as opposed to $18…Might be Misti Alpaca? Once I dyed it though, I kind of ruined the softness, though it doesn’t shed anymore.
