I found this amazing double knit fabric and just had to buy it! Purple is my favourite colour, and these particular colours reminded me of my favourite time of night – twilight – so it was a perfect combination.
I thought a simple, full length dress would best show off the fabric, so I dug out an old Simplicity pattern I had at home (Simplicity 5093). I had tried to make the shorter variation off this dress a number of years ago, but I was unhappy with the finished product, so I buried it in the cupboard and didn’t think about it again until now.
Although the pattern is extremely simple, I did some some trouble with the stretch fabric. I used a built-in stretch stitch on my sewing machine rather than an overlocker. It worked a treat…until I had to unpick some of the back seam to create a split so I could actually walk!!
