I completely messed this dress up. Instead of putting the casing in the front, I put it on the back. Also, I didn’t sew the actual casing strip straight, as it was angled on the front and back. It didn’t help that I cut the elastic too long. I also put some oddly shaped sleeves on it.

it’s true. the most exciting thing about it is that you tried. the worst thing about it, that it didn’t turn out exactly as you had planned but now you have a better idea of what not to do. don’t be discouraged! keep posting your work and sharing your thoughts on sewing!

That is what sewing and designing is all about: experimenting, learning from your mistakes, and most importantly moving on! I have made countless blunders throughout my sewing years, thrown away expenisve fabric because I totally botched the job, or because my inspired design was a flop! Don’t be discouraged.
