  Thanks a lot for this fast and detailed response, Trudy ! As a novice, it is very hepful, but not only for me, I bet ^^.

  For the record, its sounds like my butt and I are very pleased by your precious indication of the fit style of that garment x) : as we say " c’est pile-poil ce qu’il me faut ! "

  I’m now ready to go for it and thanks to you, i’m sure i’ll get a new beautiful and edgy coat too !

  Hi !

  Very found of the shape and your choice of fabric. A so beautiful coat, the bubble shape is just close enough to the body ! Make me want to sew my own version now ^^.

  I’ve got some questions: how did you choose the size for this version ? Did you choose your regular Burda size or did you pick one size smaller (what i usually do) without seam allowances or two sizes ? Did you choose your size according to your bust mesures only or to your all mesures ?

  As the shape of the coat is risky in my opinion, I’m afraid to cut the wrong size and get a saggy and unflattering shape, that’s why i’m so wondering… :/ So i’ll be glad if you give your tips and advices!

    Hi there, thank you for your comment it means a lot to me seriously. To answer to your questions I usually go for size 36. I’m a curvy size 8 in general my bottom is very round :) but my shoulders are very narrow and slim so basically a glass-hour shape in petite as im quite short too. Size 36 works well for me in Burda’s sense but what I did with this particular project is I drawn up the lines by following size 38 on the sheet and I didn’t add seamallownce to it. It came out perfect although the sleeves could be a little bit longer so keep that in mind as well as the bottom hemline, you need to add 2cms to it so you can turn it up neatly. With pants or skirts I usually follow the guidelines and measure myself just in case but size 38 sits ok. I rather have a little bit bigger than too small as you can always take some in at a later stage. This coat is fairly easy in that sense and perfect style for bottom heavy women as it covers…:)

    Don’t ever do size swaps. If you think your e.g a size 36 and follow size 38-40 just so you don’t have to add seam allowance that is a big mistake!

    This should be the last one of the series I did 4 coats of cocoon already :D I didn’t add seam-allowance this time as size 36 can be too big, so the sleeves a bit shorter than I planned, but I want to wear leather gloves with it anyway :) Thank you for you kind words!
