This is the second version of the Tweed & Feathers design… Useing a tweed in teal/black/blue/green and black ostrich feathers again… I hope you enjoy it as much as the first version -
This past october I was lucky enough to be one of the featured designers for Mercedes Benz of Buffalo Fashion Week 2011. I showed at The Mansion on Deleware, a beautiful and classy building that set a theame for the event… High end. They wanted the show to be bold, high fashion based designs, that told a story and spoke of my inspiration well.
I had 2 inspirations, both a bit diffrent, but in them I gave birth to my collection. Romeo and Juliet & The song “Black Bird”. I pulled the idea of freedom, love and passion from both inspirations, the idea of being free but struggling to be so… Free to love, free to leave, free to express. So I took that thought and pulled a mix of lace, satin, tweed, wool, feathers and beads into my sewing room… The next few of my projects I post will be from this collection, I hope you enjoy!
- For this design I took a teal, green, blue, navy, black colored tweed material and black ostrich feathers with hand beaded turquoise for a pop of color. (I didn’t want to rely on bold bright colors ot make the collection strong, I wanted ot make a bold design that spoke for itself)
The design has boning from the waist to the neckline, to allow it to stay up, as it’s very low cut in the back, and has little to help hold it up other than the shape and zipper… The zipper on this design however is hidden, unlike the last (black & white checked tweed/feathers design) project I listed. And the rise int he back is slightly higher beacuse the models shape was diffrent than the first fromt eh fashion show, so to highlight her body best, I made the back higher up, and hte zipper hidden, but hte design is very similar in most ways with just a few diffrences in the bustline, back and the beaded as well as fabric… I’m posting this to show you the same look in a diffrent fabric. It’s still very beautiful, but I think I still love the first listed project (feathers & tweed) a little tiny bit mroe than this one, but only a little!
