my boss gave me his old coat which the moths had eaten. it was a camel hair loden coat. it had been eaten pretty badly, i salvaged just enough fabric for the corset. i put one layer of tulle over the wool fabric, and the edges are bound in several layers of tulle. it was quite hard work to make it it fit and shape right. it’s actually not that uncomfortable, i think it’s at least partly because i made the waist a little higher than my natural waist and because i have sort of narrow hips i didn’t fit it too tightly there – as a result there is plenty of room for my tummy it’s just tight at the ribs. i’m very happy with the outcome, is just wish it wouldn’t make so many wrinkles.
recycled wool coat donated by my boss, tulle from joann’s.
