camel brown and gray color combination reminds me of New York City, I’m sorry I don’t know why… I couldn’t find any convincing reasons… but anyway when I bought air tickets to NY, I decided to make a dress with this camel brown fabric, and for collars I used Marimekko fabric, which is from my finnish friend and I kept in my treasure chest for years… I used the pattern I drafted for this dress again and added gathered sleeves.
BTW I’m going to NYC next month for the first time, please tell me where to go, what to see, especially for sewing lover and fabric addict! thank you!!
camel brown heavy fabric, Marimekko fabric, white cotton fabric for pocket facing and zipper

This is very sweet too – I love the shape of the skirt and the pleats. I really like how you’ve been using the contrast fabric for these last lots of dresses…. gosh I am impressed with your level of output!! You are like The Flash! xxx
I don’t live in the US and have never been, however, I do listen to an American Podcast about sewing – one episode the lady (Lori) talked about the fashion district – you may want to listen to it to get some ideas….

it’s a cute dress, but it looks like your bodice is a little too big in the shoulders. does the seam rest right on top of where your collar bone ends?

yeah, you’re quite right! because it was originally the pattern for sleeveless off shoulder dress, I moved the shoulder point a bit outside and I forgot to move it back when I added the sleeves…, thank you!

This dress is so cute! Also if you’ve seen Project Runway before, there is a fabric store called MOOD. It is located in the Fashion District by Times Square. I haven’t actually been inside before but it looks amazing. Have fun in the city!
