This is another older dress, I made it when I was a senior in high school (I’m a bit surprised it still fits!) The outfit is a combo of two Butterick patterns that were first release in the ’50s but then rereleased in the past few years. The dress and shrug are made from a linen, which is not be the best choice in fabric because it wrinkles so easily, but I loved the way it felt and draped. The dress is actually a bit heavy because of the very full pleated circle skirt.
The triangular cut-out was the most nerve-wracking part of the construction – I actually had to cut through the front piece of the bodice after I had sew the whole thing together! The shrug is basically a dolman sleeve three-piece cropped jacket, it was really easy to make and I think it adds a wonderful element to the ensemble!
(I changed the colors on some of the photos, so the closeup of the triangle cut out is the actual color of the dress)
The last two photos are from a shoot earlier this year, based around a ‘Peter Pan’ theme.

that’s lovey …like the shape and color and love that little contrasting shrug.

I like it! I love the two shots where you’re turning and holding the skirt to show the flare. It shows that you’re enjoying the femininity of the circle skirt.
