Description

Lisette’s Traveller Dress (Simplicity 2246) is my dream dress pattern – a collared shirtdress with a gathered skirt, not-too-fitted bodice and cute little cuffed sleeves. I knew when I found this beautiful floral sheet in the linen cupboard it would be a perfect match. I just had to wait for my skillz to improve to have the confidence to tackle buttons and collars!

The only fitting problem I had was the arm. I genuinely couldn’t move my arm in my muslin! So I drew the armscye up onto my shoulder and closer to my underarm, and added 4cm to the band. That seemed to do the trick.

The end result was absolutely worth the wait. It’s being worn everywhere, despite being a bit rough and ready. Though I don’t expect anyone to be looking too closely at my topstitching! Now I have the confidence to sew shirts and button up dresses.

Material Notes

old sheet from linen cupboard, Whisperweft interfacing from Lincraft, 10 × 1.3cm wooden buttons from Buttontopia
