♫ ♪ Touching

This is my most unorganized sewing project.. I didn’t follow any plan and all decisions about the look and details were made while making the dress.. I started with a simple pleated maxi skirt.. The fabric is some kind of synthetic.. I liked the print so I bought 2.5m of it.. Synthetic fabric is the reason why this time I wanted to make a skirt, and not a dress.. I cut the pieces for the skirt, even sewed the pleats, and when I saw how it looks on me, it was time to change a plan and make a dress.. I took bodice pattern from Stylish dress Book – Clothing for everyday wear .. Because I have already cut the pieces of rectangles for the skirt, I just changed the direction of the fabric pattern and sewed them to the bodice.. I wanted to sew everything, and for the finish to make a short dress.. Until I tried it on with this kind of a midi length skirt and thought why not save this length for a change? In the end I sewed the elastic to the waist, so the dress would have some shape.. Sleeves were also a detail I didn’t plan.. I wanted to add them, but I couldn’t imagine regular or puff sleeves with this print.. It was a perfect project to try rectangle sleeves, and I like how they look on the dress..

I really like the sleeve detail. It adds a contemporary edge to your dress. I see you have a kitty cat. Mine always sits on fabric as I cut. She’s my supervisor !

thank you :) I have a cat and a dog and always one of them (or even both) comes to sit, lay or seek attention while I’m sewing :)

I’m glad you like it :) this dress turned out to be very practical for travel because the fabric doesn’t wrinkle at all ;)

I think it’s a super dress – love those sleeves! I have the same book, which pattern did you use for bodice?

thank you very much :) the bodice is from W dress.. everything else I changed.. for the skirt I used more fabric to gather than the pattern suggests, and for the length I’m not sure.. sleeves were the easiest part :)
