For my next Dahl & Dane collection, I wanted to create a masculine, simple and utilitarian tote bag. What I did was take a very simple tote bag shape and added a welt pocket (specifically designed to carry a phone, wallet or metro card) in a contrasting color. The result is a very simple statement and, more importantly, useful.
Brown and brick colored wool houndstooth, tailor’s chalk, ruler.

Allison, I am a big Project Runway fan of yours. I love this wool bag and I love that you but such a fabric appropriate detail on it. My son lives in Brooklyn (Clinton Hill) and the last time I was there I kept wiping out my metro card with a magnetic closure on my bag. This would solve the problem and I love the look. Thanks for the instructions.

Gosh, I know that “man bags” are stylish in New York but I dont think my man will wear one in Florida or Timbuktu. Its very cute and very stylish for a metrosexual guy.
