I had decided to make my first “real” dress, the Danielle. I wanted to do a good job and so decided to make a toile first,. I was so pleased with the toile, I finished it properly and I’m wearing it to work tomorrow!
Because the mock-up was white bleached calico, I decided to dye it (first dyeing experience too), the result is a dress I’m happy with, now all I have to do is make the real thing in the fabric I bought for the project.
Bleached calico, bias binding, buttons.

Jenny, your dress has turned out really well and I love the coral/orange colour. I am a bit scared of dying so good for you for giving it a go. It is hot and humid here too and I feel so sticky all the time. The air-con is on tonight as there is no breeze at all to keep us cool.

I know, we have air con but it’s evap so pretty useless. I’ve given up on trying to stay cool, now I’m just sewing like mad to try and take my mind off how horrible it is! I like the colour as it is, very rich :)

Love the dyed colour! Kinda suits our current weather! Also close to the 2012 colour of the year!

Thanks, it was supposed to be red, my sons canvas shoes took up the colour much better. Hasn’t it been stifling over the last 3 days, I can’t stand tropical weather and the humidity is awful…hopefully some rain in the next hour or so :)
