When I was at uni I discovered the work of Lucy Orta; one of the things she did was take items from charity shops, such as ties and zips, and make them into other things such as bags and skirts. Inspired by this I made a tie skirt but long ago it went the way of all good things (to the rag bag.) The other day when I was charity shop shopping I found some lovely patterned ties and decided I would make another version. This time though I’ve made the ties into a dress, using an old vest top to make the top section. The ties naturally add shape to the dress and a lace trim hides a multitude of sins!

Thank you, I really like the mix of colours and patterns on these ties and I’m pleased with how it’s turned out.
