Wooo, Im really happy to have a full blown personal sewing project done. Its not overly complicated or anything, as ive done so much sewing lately i wasnt up to anything too complex.
Another red white and blue combination. Id say a good 70% of the time when i get dressed this is the combination of colours i end up wearing, and id say like 90% of the time when i dress up to go out.
Anywho, the whole outter shell is made from 2m of this really cute old style quilting fabric which i bought in adelaide for $5 a meter. Its got the cuttest little valentine children. Too bad its a bit past valentines day. But i can always wear it next year, even if i dont have someone to wear it with…CAUSE LOOK HOW CUTE THEY ARE! giving me flowers and chocolates and cards. ahhhh
i just made a pleated skirt with a ruffled tier on the bottom. This is the first time ive used my ruffler foot where you sew both pieces at the same time, where one layer gets ruffled and the bottom layer just goes through flat. I also put in a petticoat. I figured theres never going to be a time where i wont want one hehe. Also a nice big detatchable bow, which originally i put on the back…but i think i like it more on the front.
What i did as well….was made the top and skirt seperately. I tend to make myself alot of dresses. But this way i get 2 things in 1! woohoo!
I used the same vintage butterick pattern that i usd in my previous stripey top post, but put the facing on the outside, and made it sleeveless and extended the shoulders. I also made it straight from under the arms, so its not fitted besides at the bust.
I hope you like my completely creepy but amazingly awesome plush of the worm from the labyrinth, who conveniently likes the same colour scheme as me. win.
Cotton quilting fabric, interfacing, red velvet ribbon, button, zipper

It very, very cute! You certainly have a distinctive, fun style. Love it very much. As for the worm…that just plain scares me.
