A few days ago, I found my back yard covered in feathers. My best guess is that a hawk took down a smaller bird in one of the big trees. I picked out some of the nicest feathers and and made a hat with some heavy wool felt scraps I had lying about. The hat is really simple, pulled from a simplicity costume pattern, I shortened the cap by about 3/4 of an inch and widened the brim and added a wire to the edge so it could be shaped.
