A few years back I saw some innovative feminine approaches to neckties in Burda’s DIY section. After some slight nagging I convinced my brother to donate one of his outdated silk ties to me, and I made a headband out of it.
After rummaging through the men’s department during summer sales I found an adorable dark blue silk necktie waiting to be reinvented. After an inspirational google image search the outcome was a homemade necktie collar. I’m contemplating utilizing the necklace-tie as a quirky collar on a simple dress in blue silk, however that still remains to be seen. Before I start a yet another sewing project, I need to finish my colour-blocking project that’s turning out to be a never ending story… But for now I can take comfort in wearing my new necktie by itself as a sort of chunky necklace.
A: tie, simple woven headband (so you can sew the tie directly onto the tie for more stability), matching thread.
B: tie, decorative button, matching thread.
